Job Summary
Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine is accepting applications for the position of Course Coordinator. The Course Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of assigned Phase 1 courses, ensuring effective curriculum delivery and an exceptional student learning experience. The position supports curricular innovation, faculty engagement, and continuous quality improvement consistent with institutional and accreditation standards. Reporting to the Director of the Office of Medical Education, the Course Coordinator collaborates with faculty, students, educational support staff, and institutional leadership to ensure course objectives are met, instructional activities are coordinated, and student learning is supported. About Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine
In February 2024, the Xavier University of Louisiana Board of Trustees and the Ochsner Health Board of Directors approved the partnership to develop the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine. Becoming the fifth allopathic Historically Black College and University (HBCU) medical school in the country. As the largest physician led clinically integrated network in the Gulf South, the Ochsner Health Network operates 46 hospitals and treated more than 1.5 million patients in 2022. Xavier and Ochsner have been working together since the early 1980s. Through their ongoing partnership, Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana have advanced healthcare equity through several programs, including a program for physician assistants that has already graduated 108 students. By creating this new medical school, Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine is taking a big step toward improving healthcare for all the communities they serve. Together, they will train doctors who care deeply about their patients and understand the importance of diversity and high-quality medicine. In addition, Ochsner has 33 wide-ranging, accredited residency and fellowship programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through written, verbal, and presentation formats with diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and related productivity tools.
- Strong organizational, project coordination, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to providing high quality, student-centered service.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience in medical education, health professions education, higher education administration, curriculum management, or academic program support.
- Knowledge of medical school curricula, educational assessment practices, and academic program operations.
- Experience supporting curriculum delivery, course administration, student services, or faculty engagement initiatives.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in educational and professional environments.

- Coordinates the planning, implementation, scheduling, and daily operations of any assigned courses within the Phase 1 curriculum.

Program Objectives, Course Objectives, Session Objectives, accreditation standards, and curricular goals.

Collaborates with faculty, curriculum leaders, and administrative staff to develop, organize, and deliver high-quality educational experiences that support student learning and engagement.

Coordinates and supports the delivery of lectures, laboratory sessions, small-group learning, team-based learning activities, assessments, and other instructional formats.

Works closely with curriculum leadership to promote horizontal and vertical integration across the Phase 1 curriculum and ensure consistency in course design and delivery.

Monitors course effectiveness through analysis of student performance data, course evaluations, assessment outcomes, and faculty feedback, recommending and implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives as appropriate.

Tracks student attendance and monitors compliance with attendance policies and established procedures, documenting, reporting, and addressing concerns as needed.

Provides ongoing communication and support to students, faculty, and staff by responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and disseminating course-related information.

Identifies and evaluates emerging trends, innovations, and best practices in medical education, curriculum management, and assessment, incorporating appropriate improvements into course administration and delivery.

Performs other related duties and supports special projects and events, including M1 and M2 Orientation, examination administration and proctoring, curriculum initiatives, and other student-focused activities.
