Vacuum Technician (UHV) – Hayward, CA (On-site)

Full-time | Entry level

We are seeking a Vacuum Technician to assemble, test, and maintain ultra-high vacuum (UHV) components and systems in a hands-on production/lab environment. This role includes mechanical assembly, leak checking, troubleshooting vacuum performance issues, routine maintenance on pumps and related hardware, and documenting test/service results while partnering with engineering and production teams to meet quality and delivery goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble UHV components/systems per drawings, specs, and SOPs
• Perform leak checks and troubleshoot vacuum issues
• Maintain pumps, gauges, seals, and related hardware
• Document test results and service work clearly and accurately
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support quality and on-time delivery
• Assist with parts/inventory and safe handling of materials/gases as needed
• Occasional customer support related to equipment operation (as needed)

Qualifications

• Mechanical assembly skills; basic electronics a plus

• Familiarity with pumps, seals, gauges, and vacuum hardware preferred

• Ability to read engineering drawings/schematics and follow technical documentation

• Experience using diagnostic tools (leak detectors, multimeters, etc.) is a plus

• Prior UHV/high-vacuum/semiconductor/scientific equipment experience is highly beneficial

• HS diploma/GED required; technical certificate or associate degree preferred

• Able to stand, lift, and work with tools/equipment in a daily on-site role
