Job title: The Logos Student Newspaper Multimedia Journalist (MMJ)
About the Role The Logos Student Newspaper Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) supports the production of The Logos, UIW's student-run digital newspaper. It reports to the Faculty Advisor for The Logos. This is a student position open to current UIW students and may be funded through the Federal Work-Study Program or student employment for the 2026-27 academic year.
What You'll Do
- Identify newsworthy events and story ideas.
- Gather information through research, observation, and interviews.
- Write news stories, features, and articles for various formats.
- Edit and proofread content for grammar, accuracy, and style.
- Conduct interviews, research, and write content for different platforms.
- Produce, edit, and manage audio, video, and photographic content.
- Assist in production of the newspaper.
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of Associated Press style and strong grammar skills.
- Good photography skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Must be a full-time UIW student during the 2026-27 academic year with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (3.0 in the major) and be at least a sophomore.
- No prior work experience required.
- Willingness to adhere to university, conference, and NCAA rules.
Nice to Have
- Preference given to students with previous high school or college journalistic experience (newspaper, yearbook, magazine, anthology, broadcasting class, website, etc.).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $12 per hour.
- Up to 20 hours per week, based on student availability.
- Part-time student position with potential for Federal Work-Study employment.
