Job Description Summary ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The department of Natural Sciences offers courses in Biology, Chemistry, Geology and Physics. This position will support faculty and staff in the preparation of laboratory classes as well as assisting in the maintenance and care of laboratory equipment.
POSITION SUMMARY, ROUTINE TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with setting up and taking down lab classes
- Maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment
- Use of basic laboratory equipment, including a balance, pH meter
- Safe handling of chemicals
- Cleaning/ Autoclaving glassware
- Must have attention to detail
- Be familiar with basic lab techniques (Measuring volumes, Weighing using a balance etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registered full-time SSU student
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and follow instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms
- Follow SSU dress code policy
