About the Role Join Deloitte's Business Process Solutions (BPS) Tax team delivering comprehensive payroll tax administration and compliance for clients. As a Senior Tax Analyst in US Managed Payroll Tax Services, you will help configure wage codes, manage payroll tax notices, file payroll tax returns, and coordinate year-end reporting. This role is offered across multiple U.S. locations and operates in a hybrid work model.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver payroll tax services for clients.
  • Configure payroll wage codes for accurate application of employer and employee taxes.
  • Analyze payroll tax notices and assist with tax notice responses.
  • Prepare Powers of Attorney; liaise with Federal and State agencies.
  • Register employers for payroll taxes and obtain identification numbers as needed.
  • Prepare and file payroll tax returns; prepare Forms W-2, 1099 and state equivalents.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve compliance issues; monitor penalties/notices.
  • Reconcile federal and state withholding taxes and unemployment taxes monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Lead process improvements and automation opportunities in payroll tax operations.
  • Coordinate year-end efforts for accurate W-2s and annual filings.
  • Ensure proper setup and maintenance of local withholding codes in the Deloitte payroll tax system.
  • Perform quarterly reconciliation and data analysis; resolve inquiries.
  • Communicate with internal/external customers regarding tax inquiries.
  • Conduct internal audits; drive changes for improvements.
  • Set up operating protocols for the service offering.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, human resources, international business, finance, accounting, or a relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in U.S. payroll tax operations and compliance, including employer registrations, payroll tax return preparation and filing, tax notice analysis, quarterly and annual reconciliations, tax adjustments/amendments, and year-end reporting such as Forms W-2 and 1099.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements and agency processes, including withholding and unemployment tax setup, FEIN/SUI registration, Powers of Attorney, agency correspondence, and audit support.
  • Experience using payroll tax systems and agency portals to manage tax configurations, validate tax updates, reconcile employee-level tax data, resolve client and stakeholder inquiries, and identify process improvement or automation opportunities with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% on average, based on work and client needs.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires co-location in person 2–3 days per week.
