About this role

Senior Structures Design Integration Engineer

Mission

Job Title: Senior Structures Design Integration Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Structures Design Integration Engineer to provide high-level technical leadership for complex airframe design and major aircraft development programs or sustaining initiatives. In this role, you will drive airframe structural design across metallic and composite primary and secondary structures—from initial configuration and trade studies through detail design, manufacturing integration, and airworthiness certification. Acting as a technical subject matter expert, you will guide multi-disciplinary teams to optimize structural efficiency, load paths, weight, cost, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structural Design & Technical Definition:

  • Develop, evaluate, and approve structural concepts, 3D CAD models, structural layouts, assembly/installation drawings, and detail drawings across major airframe zones.

  • Define metallic and composite structural parts, joint architectures, structural interfaces, fastening strategies, and GD&T in full alignment with structural requirements.

  • Apply advanced structural design practices to optimize load path distribution, weight efficiency, manufacturing producibility, and in-service inspectability/maintainability.

  • Technical Integration & Cross-Functional Alignment:

  • Lead spatial interface integration, multi-variable trade studies, and physical clash resolution across structural, mechanical, and electrical boundaries.

  • Coordinate structural definition across stress analysis, materials & processes (M&P), systems installation, aerodynamics, interiors, quality, and manufacturing engineering.

  • Present structural design maturity, key trade-offs, and risk mitigations in formal enterprise and customer design reviews.

  • Design Maturity, Certification & Operations Support:

  • Provide fully traceable design packages, technical rationales, and substantiation documentation to support formal airworthiness certification (FAA/EASA).

  • Lead root-cause analysis (RCCA) for complex non-conformances, supplier issues, flight test anomalies, or in-service fleet defects, authorizing binding corrective design actions.

  • Manage engineering changes, conduct technical/cost/schedule impact assessments, and maintain strict configuration control within the PLM environment.

  • Senior Technical Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Lead complex, multi-zone structural design packages, establishing clear technical direction and architectural approaches.

  • Review and approve significant engineering solutions within delegated authority.

  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, influence cross-functional decisions without direct authority, and continuously advance internal engineering standards, methods, and digital practices.

  • Profile

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Structural, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience: Typically 10–15+ years of relevant aerospace engineering experience with a recognized emphasis on 3D airframe structural design and integration.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Deep technical knowledge of aircraft structural design, metallic and composite joint mechanics, fasteners, GD&T, and aerospace materials/processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of airframe manufacturing methods, structural assembly sequences, inspection criteria, and airworthiness certification fundamentals.
  • Strong familiarity with configuration management, weight optimization, and product lifecycle management.
  • Tools & Systems:
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 (Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Assembly Design) and ENOVIA; experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter is a strong asset.
  • Expertise in PLM environments, product definition, and engineering change management.
  • Leadership & Behavioral Competencies:
  • Exceptional written and verbal technical communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to guide technical decisions, resolve complex multi-disciplinary conflicts, and mentor engineering personnel.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong analytical problem-solving skills and professional accountability.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; French language proficiency is considered an asset.
