Senior QA Automation (Playwright)

Role overview

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior QA Automation with Playwright for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Costa Rica/Mexico. Our client is a leading provider of online training. You will take independent ownership of automation initiatives and contribute to the continued evolution of our Quality Engineering practices. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions across web platforms and APIs, integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines, and using data and metrics to continuously improve software quality.

You will work closely with Engineering, QA, and leadership teams to ensure reliable test coverage, identify and address quality risks, and drive automation initiatives with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate is proactive, accountable, results-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of initiatives from planning through execution and continuous improvement.

The role also provides an opportunity to contribute to modern Quality Engineering practices, including AI-assisted testing, performance and load testing, and the adoption of new automation tools and strategies.

Requirements

• 6+ years experience in QA automation and Quality Engineering
• Experience with Typescript and Javascript.
• 2+ years with Playwright or similar modern automation frameworks.
• Strong experience with end-to-end web and API test automation.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution environments.
• Experience with test reporting, automation metrics, and quality dashboards.
• Strong understanding of test data management and test environment troubleshooting.
• Experience performing root cause analysis for software defects and test failures.
• Experience with performance and load testing.
• Familiarity with modern Quality Engineering practices and AI-assisted testing approaches.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex quality issues and identify root causes.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of automation initiatives, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise, and outcome-focused updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive approach to identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, QA, and leadership teams.

Responsibilities

• Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents and provide timely, meaningful feedback from a quality and testability perspective.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, quality, and seamless integration of web platforms.

• Create detailed and well-structured test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright and other open-source testing tools.

• Develop and execute end-to-end web and API automation across supported browsers and devices.

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support reliable, repeatable test execution.

• Maintain technical documentation, including test plans, test scripts, test results, and defect reports.

• Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities across projects and releases.

• Identify opportunities to improve existing testing processes, tools, and automation frameworks based on industry trends and emerging practices.

• Identify, document, track, and communicate software defects, working closely with Scrum teams to prioritize and resolve issues.

• Perform thorough regression testing after defects are resolved and validate that fixes do not introduce new issues.

• Develop and apply appropriate testing strategies and processes for new and existing products.

• Collaborate with developers, product stakeholders, and other internal teams to clarify system requirements and define effective testing approaches.

• Monitor debugging and defect-resolution activities and validate outcomes.

• Investigate the root causes of software defects and non-conforming behavior and help define effective corrective actions.

• Track and analyze QA and automation metrics, including defect density, open defect counts, test coverage, and automation results.

• Contribute to performance and load testing activities and analyze results to identify potential quality or scalability issues.

• Stay current with emerging testing tools, automation frameworks, Quality Engineering practices, and AI-assisted testing approaches.

• Proactively identify quality risks and drive mitigation activities through to resolution.

• Provide clear, outcome-focused updates on automation initiatives, risks, progress, and results.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization's automation and Quality Engineering capabilities.
