About the Role Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP seeks a Senior IT Systems & Infrastructure Engineer to integrate and administer the firm’s core infrastructure, including server operating systems, virtualization (VMware), enterprise storage (SAN/NAS), blade servers (HPE Synergy), security, and cloud platforms (Azure), to meet operational and continuity requirements. What You'll Do
- Research, evaluate, and recommend technical solutions; design, engineer, and deploy into production with detailed documentation.
- Transition new systems from engineering to steady-state operations by providing thorough documentation and training to operational staff.
- Lead technical projects and act as a subject matter expert on infrastructure best practices.
- Serve as top-level escalation point for complex issues; work with external vendors to resolve issues and produce root cause analyses.
- Efficiently triage and prioritize tasks in a demanding environment to ensure critical initiatives are addressed promptly.
- Maintain business hours while accommodating evenings/nights/weekends as needed.
- Perform additional duties as required by management. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent technical knowledge; industry certifications are preferred.
- 7+ years of IT operations/infrastructure experience; hands-on expertise with Microsoft Windows Server, blade hardware (HPE Synergy), VMware, hyper-converged infrastructure, and SAN/NAS storage (Pure Storage, NetApp).
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills, judgment, and ability to work under pressure, either independently or as part of a team.
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise and cloud backup software and strategies.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs; valid U.S. driver’s license for occasional travel between offices or data centers.
- Expertise in monitoring for mission-critical systems and familiarity with modern AIOps approaches.
- Self-motivated with initiative to improve efficiency and quality.
- Experience implementing and testing BC/DR plans for critical systems (annual DR testing). Nice to Have
- Microsoft Core Infrastructure: Expert-level proficiency with Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, DFS, Group Policy, Windows Registry in an enterprise environment.
- Virtualization & Hyperconverged Platforms: Expert proficiency in virtualization and hyperconverged platforms. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: USD 120,000 - USD 145,000 per year.
- Final compensation will be determined in accordance with internal equity, established salary ranges, market considerations, and the candidate’s qualifications, including relevant experience, education, and credentials.
