Job title: Senior Cyber Defense Engineer
About the Role Senior Cyber Defense Engineer in a technical Azure security role focused on designing and implementing detections, logging, and secure/cloud architecture for a global FinTech platform. You will work across the end-to-end security lifecycle, collaborating with Architects to ensure cloud infrastructure is secure from the ground up.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and tune advanced detection logic within Microsoft Sentinel using KQL.
- Develop playbooks and workbooks to automate response actions and visualize threats.
- Lead the strategy for centralized logging; optimize Log Analytics workspaces for high-fidelity data ingestion while balancing cost and performance.
- Own and manage Microsoft Defender for Cloud; drive remediation of security recommendations and bridge alerts to engineering fixes.
- Partner with Infrastructure and Solution Architects to ensure security is baked into Azure landing zones and CI/CD pipelines.
- Translate high-level security objectives into technical roadmaps; plan, execute, and report progress to leadership.
- Apply solid understanding of Azure networking, Entra ID, and compute services to identify and mitigate configuration drift.
What We're Looking For
- Azure Security Expertise: Deep, practical experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, and Microsoft Defender portal.
- Detection Proficiency: Mastery of KQL for threat hunting and detection rule creation.
- Logging Strategy: Experience designing scalable logging architectures (Diagnostic settings, Event Hubs, Log Analytics).
- Network Security Topology: Expertise in Azure-native networking security (Azure Firewall, WAF, Private Link/Private Endpoints) for zero-trust connectivity.
- Experience securing AKS and containerized workloads using Defender for Containers and admission controllers.
- Key Skills: Ability to drive initiatives from concept to delivery with minimal supervision; Clear communication; Methodical approach; Strong collaboration in a global organization.
