Job Description:
Manhattanville University Student Affairs is dedicated to creating a community that promotes and builds a sense of belonging, while nurturing the retention, and persistence of all students in their academic pursuits. The Resident Coordinator is part of an integrated engagement team that emphasizes communication and collaboration to create a vibrant and engaged student experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise, develop, and evaluate up to 18 undergraduate Resident Assistants (RAs).
- Facilitate an environment of personal growth, leadership development, and academic success through training sessions, one-on-one meetings, staff meetings, and development opportunities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Cultivate an engaged residential population within Spellman Hall for First-Year Valiants. Together with the RA team, the Residence Coordinator utilizes an array of community development tools to target the specific needs of First Year residential students.
- Collaborate across the Residence Life team to manage housing administrative processes such as move-in, health and safety inspections, and closing procedures.
- Create opportunities for growth by being a role model, confronting student behavior, enforcing community standards, and providing leadership opportunities within the community.
- Serve as a resource and referral agent for students’ academic and social needs.
- Serve in the on-call rotation for the University with other live-in professionals responding to a variety of needs including but not limited to crisis and emergency response, facility and maintenance issues, support for student staff and students, and conflict resolution for students. On-call staff will be expected to be on scene according to the crisis protocol and work with Campus Safety and other University Staff as needed.
- Serve as a case manager for targeted student support, meet in-person and individually with all students assigned to you, and document such engagement.
- Create, administer, and adjudicate student conduct cases. Complete all administrative records and communication maintaining conduct databases for prescribed timelines.
- Monitor the physical condition of the community buildings, work collaboratively with maintenance and custodial staff to report and follow-up on work order requests, damages, and facility emergencies.
- Develop positive working relationships with facilities workers, custodial staff, campus safety, and other campus partners.
- Demonstrate knowledge of university procedures and on-campus resources in order to aid students in their development to become active citizens in the community.
- Serve on departmental and university committees as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams
- Ability to participate as a positive team player
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience: Strong candidates will demonstrate experience in residence life, student and community development, supervision and staff training, advising student groups, creation and implementation of management systems, crisis response, and previous work with student populations. Candidates will also demonstrate commitment to serving students, understand the importance of being a team player, and possess effective communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times, occasionally helping move furniture
- Must be able to complete regular building survey by moving through all rooms and corridors within a residence hall
Salary
The annual salary for this position is $48,000-50,000
Hours Expectation:
10-months, Full-time, 35 hours per week

Housing:
2-Bedroom apartment is provided within a Residence Hall.
