The New Product Introduction (NPI) Planner/Production Planner is responsible for supporting manufacturing readiness activities associated with new product introductions, engineering changes, product variations, and production launches within assembly and fabrication operations at the San Antonio manufacturing facility. This role supports initial process planning, manufacturing routing development, station readiness, production documentation, training coordination, material readiness, and hands-on execution of pilot, prototype, and certification builds.

The NPI Planner / Coordinator works closely with NPI Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME), Training, and Product Engineering to ensure new product content is properly planned, documented, validated, and prepared for successful production implementation.

As International Motors continues to grow in San Antonio, we are expanding our production operations with the introduction of a night production shift. The night shift is Monday through Thursday from 5:30 PM to 4:00 AM, with production planned to begin in early 2027. This is a salaried position supporting a manufacturing operation. While the primary schedule aligns with the designated production shift, employees are expected to provide operational support as needed to meet business objectives. This may require working outside normal production hours, including extended shifts, production startup activities, recovery efforts, and occasional weekend support based on operational requirements.

Shift Differential: 10% differential upon transitioning to Night Shift work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for new vehicle programs, product changes, features, and production launches.

• Review engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical documentation to identify manufacturing requirements and affected production stations.

• Develop and validate preliminary manufacturing routings and Point of Application (POA) for new parts and product changes.

• Create and maintain Build Books, Process Books, and initial manufacturing documentation for new product introductions.

• Perform station readiness reviews to identify process, safety, tooling, material presentation, documentation, and training requirements.

• Coordinate readiness actions with responsible departments and follow up through completion.

• Identify, track, and communicate production jobs affected by new product introductions and engineering changes.

• Provide hands-on production support during pilot, prototype, certification, and initial production builds.

• Capture and track manufacturing issues, defects, lessons learned, and corrective actions identified during builds.

• Coordinate training and ensure required process documentation is available prior to production implementation.

• Audit PFEP and material readiness, including part presentation, delivery method, and Point of Use/Point of Application requirements.

• Maintain and communicate manufacturing readiness status, open issues, risks, pilot schedules, and implementation activities to NPI Engineering and cross-functional teams.

• Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and no experience

• OR

• At least 2 years of production control/planning and/or customer service experience

• Desired Skills

• Experience in automotive, heavy-duty truck, or high-volume manufacturing.

• Experience supporting new product introductions, pilot builds, or production launches.

• Familiarity with manufacturing routings, ERP/MES systems, PFEP, or material readiness activities.

• Experience with LN ERP, manufacturing documentation, or production planning systems.
