Principal Product Manager / Product Lead

We are seeking a strategic, execution-oriented Principal Product Manager / Product Lead to lead a complex product area within Wise Platform’s Banks portfolio.

You’ll set the product direction, turn ambiguous problems into clear priorities and work closely with our engineering teams to deliver measurable improvements. You’ll combine an understanding of bank partners and their customers with the technical and commercial judgement needed to build payments products that scale.

This is a senior individual contributor role with influence beyond your immediate team and a clear path to leadership. You’ll own your area’s strategy and outcomes, connect priorities across teams and help raise the quality of product decisions across Wise Platform.

Your mission:

Set a clear product direction. Develop a compelling vision for your area, grounded in customer needs, partner insight and data. Translate it into a focused roadmap, with clear objectives and a considered view of what to build, improve or stop.

Understand the problems that matter. Spend time with bank partners and their customers to understand their needs, infrastructure and constraints. Work with Sales and Delivery to identify patterns across opportunities and turn those insights into product decisions.

Make difficult choices. Balance customer value and commercial opportunity with technical complexity, regulatory requirements, risk and operational impact. Explain your decisions clearly and help teams move forward when priorities compete or ownership is unclear.

Stay close to delivery. Work with Engineering, Design and Analytics from discovery through launch and iteration. Get into the detail of APIs, integrations and payment flows, challenge assumptions, resolve blockers and help the team deliver at pace.

Lead across team boundaries. Build alignment with other product teams and colleagues in Compliance, Operations and commercial functions. Identify dependencies early and influence priorities across Wise to deliver complete solutions for bank partners.

Own measurable outcomes. Define the metrics that guide your roadmap and show whether the product is working. Use adoption, usage, payment performance and customer outcomes to evaluate progress, understand commercial impact and decide what to improve next.

Help partners succeed. Represent the product credibly with prospective and existing banks. Help Sales and Delivery qualify and unblock strategic opportunities, set realistic expectations and identify solutions that meet partner needs while supporting a coherent product strategy.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

Solve payments problems that span technology, customer experience, commercial needs and regulation.

Influence decisions across the Banks portfolio and the wider Wise organisation.

Mentor other Product Managers and strengthen product judgement, discovery and execution across teams.

Work directly with our regional teams in London, Austin, and Singapore, and connect with prospective enterprise partners globally.

Qualifications

• A bit about you

• You have built payments products. You can show how your product decisions and delivery improved customer or business outcomes, and explain the trade-offs you made.

• You bring strong product judgement. You’ve independently led a complex product area, created direction from ambiguity and translated strategy into a roadmap that delivered results.

• You have technical depth. You’re comfortable with APIs, backend platforms and integrations, and can engage meaningfully with engineers on architecture, system behaviour and implementation choices.

• You use data to make decisions. You can define useful metrics, investigate problems and combine quantitative evidence with customer insight to prioritise work.

• You lead through influence. You’ve aligned teams around shared outcomes, challenged senior stakeholders constructively and resolved dependencies beyond your immediate remit.

• You communicate clearly. You can explain complex products to bank partners, commercial colleagues and technical teams, and build trust through sound judgement and follow-through.

• Nice to have

• Experience building products for banks or other financial institutions.

• Expertise in cross-border payments, FX or transaction banking.

• Experience helping other Product Managers develop their skills and judgement
