About the Role Pediatric Critical Care Physician (Per Diem) at Endeavor Health’s EHMG program in Naperville, IL. This role provides per diem on-call coverage for a 16-bed combined pediatric floor/critical care unit, with on-call from home and on-site rounding for emergencies. Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Critical Care; opportunity to contribute to a growing PICU service with integrated subspecialty support. What You'll Do
- Provide per diem on-call coverage (24 hours, evenings/overnights, and weekends) from home with on-site rounding for emergencies as needed.
- Deliver bedside clinical care to medical and general surgical pediatric patients within a 16-bed combined pediatric floor/critical care unit (no post-operative cardiac surgery).
- Utilize advanced mechanical ventilation strategies and perform comprehensive procedures (intubation, central lines, chest tubes, etc.).
- Provide pediatric sedation services and critical care consultations to the pediatric ED.
- Collaborate closely with on-site pediatric subspecialists and hospitalists; participate in multidisciplinary rounds and family-centered care.
- Contribute to program transition and growth, including a shift toward an Endeavor-employed model and ongoing quality improvement.
- Note: ECMO and CRRT are not currently offered. What We're Looking For
- Education: Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency and an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship (or eligible).
- Licensure: Eligible for medical licensing in Illinois.
- Certifications: BLS, PALS, and ACLS required.
- Board status: Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care.
- Experience: Preferred post-fellowship experience in pediatric critical care; open to recent graduates of a qualified PCC fellowship program.
- Skills: Excellent clinical skills in pediatric critical care; strong communication, collaboration, adaptability, and commitment to evidence-based practice. Nice to Have
- Experience in community PICU settings.
- In-house neonatology coverage and strong subspecialty support.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a growing program and to contribute to a family-centered care environment. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $90/hour for home-call coverage, with a higher rate of $200/hour for on-site rounding or emergencies requiring on-site presence.
- Schedule: On-call structure for night and weekend coverage from home.
