About the Role The Patient Scheduling Representative supports oncology appointment scheduling and patient intake in Niles, IL. This part-time, per diem role handles high-volume calls, patient registrations, and coordination with multiple offices to ensure accurate scheduling, timely insurance authorization, and financial clearance for quality patient care. What You'll Do
- Answer high volume incoming calls promptly, courteously, and with outstanding customer service.
- Accurately schedule appointments for multiple offices.
- Follow department guidelines and protocols to ensure service excellence.
- Enter appropriate diagnoses and ICD-9 codes in compliance with Local Medical Review Policies.
- Gather complete and accurate patient type, demographic and billing information; pre-register patients.
- Advise patients of insurance authorization and referral requirements and ensure timely transfer of registration information for financial clearance and appropriate reimbursement.
- Advise patients of the collections policy and explain payments, deposits and co-pays; direct patients to the SCMG Biller when necessary.
- Assist and support new employees to understand department policies and procedures while emphasizing quality service.
- Maintain accurate physician data for new doctors, insurance information, and other updates in the computer system; maintain paper files as backup for downtime so referrals can be processed manually.

- Education: High School graduate; two or more years of health-related college coursework preferred.
- Experience: One year in hospital admissions, hospital department scheduling, or physician office scheduling preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills: Interpersonal and customer service skills; excellent phone voice; basic medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and coding (ICD-9); knowledge of MS Office and web-based portal functionality; knowledge of Medicare/Public Aid; managed care knowledge; ability to prioritize and organize tasks; flexibility; strong problem-solving and cross-department collaboration abilities. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $20.69 - $30.00 per hour (USD).
