Job title: Part-Time ESL Staff Instructor (Adjunct)

About the Role The part-time ESL Staff Instructor supports learner success by delivering blended ESL instruction across Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Listening & Speaking to non-native speakers. The role includes needs assessment, ongoing assessment, and one-on-one meetings, with opportunities for professional development and program innovation to ensure quality and expediency in language acquisition. The instructor will align with the University’s mission while serving within the ESL Program.

What You'll Do

• Teach ESL courses across Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Listening & Speaking to non-native speakers, using blended and integrative approaches
• Design, deliver, and assess instruction to promote student success and engagement in/out of the classroom
• Conduct needs assessments, ongoing assessments, and hold one-on-one meetings with students
• Engage in professional development and contribute to ESL Program innovation
• Collaborate with colleagues to support the University mission and provide high-quality ESL training
• Ensure responsiveness and adaptability in a diverse, multicultural setting

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or related field with ESL teaching certification (to teach BICS levels)
• Master’s degree in TESOL or related field with teaching certification to teach CALPS (across all levels)
• Preferably three years of ESL teaching experience at college level or equivalent, with knowledge of second language acquisition and related pedagogy
• Exposure to diverse cultural contexts; flexibility and adaptability; ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and learning management systems (LMS)
• TESOL/ESL teaching certification or equivalent
• Commitment to supporting and promoting the University mission

Nice to Have

• Master’s degree in TESOL (preferred)
