Job Summary
The NPI/Sustaining Technician is responsible for providing hands-on technical support for new product introductions and sustaining engineering activities related to protective relay products. This position serves as a key resource between the NPI and Sustaining Engineering teams, supporting product launches, validation activities, engineering changes, and ongoing production improvements. The role involves working closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to ensure successful product implementation and continuous support throughout the product lifecycle.
About Your Role
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds, including engineering validation, design validation, production validation, and production readiness activities.
- Assist with sustaining engineering projects by supporting product updates, validations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform component inspections, measurements, testing, and data collection to support engineering evaluations and decision-making.
- Create and maintain work instructions, visual aids, and manufacturing documentation for pre-production and production processes.
- Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), process documentation, and related product records to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Coordinate engineering samples, materials, prototypes, and test units required for internal and external evaluations.
- Support engineering change activities and implementation of approved product or process modifications.
- Troubleshoot printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and provide technical support during manufacturing and validation activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions from product development to production.
About You
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of one year of experience in NPI, Manufacturing Engineering, Sustaining Engineering, or a related technical environment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Experience troubleshooting and soldering printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
- Fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Comfortable working in manufacturing environments involving SMT, PCBA, Sub-Assembly, and Final Assembly processes.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support cross-functional engineering activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes.
- Experience using SAP or similar ERP/PLM systems.
- Familiarity with BOM management and manufacturing documentation systems.
