Job Description

Overview

Maintenance Technician G3 is a third-level technician. This individual is required to meet all the expectations as defined in Level G1, G2, and G3 Key Result Expectations as well as the elevated expectations as defined in the Key Result Expectations for Level G5 to maintain this position. The following minimum expectations will be reviewed at your 90 review. These expectations are listed to help you focus on the preliminary expectations to maintain the level of Class G5 maintenance team member. You may be assigned a specific focus area based on the plant needs at the time and will be supplied with a focus list that will be used during your initial 90 day evaluation. We do encourage you to master the listed Key Result Expectations as they will be reviewed at your 90-day review. Additional efforts and skill applications are always welcome.

Responsibilities What You'll Do

Level G1 Key Result Expectations Complete individual lockout tagout training and demonstrate the ability to identify lock locations for a particular machine, physically follow the lockout procedure, and apply the appropriate lockout devices defined by the procedure. Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times. Follow directions, verbal or written, for basic assembly and repair of equipment. Assist other maintenance technicians on projects and rebuilds. Learn the locations and proper descriptions of lines and equipment. Learn to locate parts in the parts room and sign out correctly. Complete paperwork for checklists, work orders, and other documentation as required. Learn to enter and complete work orders in the computerized maintenance management system. Perform repair work on production equipment, processing equipment, and buildings/grounds as assigned. Initiate work efforts independently, when possible, to complete assigned tasks. Be willing to work regular shift hours, off-shift hours, overtime, and be on call as needed. Perform other duties when requested by the Maintenance Supervisor and or Lead Mechanic when the need arises.

Level G2 Key Result Expectations Start and safely stop key equipment, including carton erector, filler, packing robot, conveyors, labelers, and carton closers, with potential additional support equipment. Adjust box erectors/closers for specific carton sizes and produce usable cartons. Disassemble and reassemble filler pumps using the correct O-rings. Remove and install the cup dropper where applicable. Change lidding roll and thread onto the machine in the correct path. Install and remove heater assemblies correctly, including proper alignment and attaching thermocouple assemblies where applicable. Install and remove lid knife assemblies correctly, including proper alignment. Understand the fundamental operation of the pick-and-place robots. Make minor adjustments to the carton divider inserter (MGS). Start or stop inkjet coding systems and align the printer head in the proper location. Perform PM duties as assigned following the written PM document with minor supervision. Interpret basic machine diagrams to identify needed parts and or assemblies. Rebuild heater and cup dropper assemblies as needed. Use a Multimeter and or Amp probe to detect the presence or absence of power. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Lead.

Level G3 Key Result Expectations Operate all packaging equipment at the production level of operation. Change package selection on packing robots for different product sizes. Interpret complex wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings to facilitate repairs. Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical equipment in assigned areas. Troubleshoot 3-phase motor controls and perform repairs as required. Replace and wire three-phase and single-phase motors correctly. Troubleshoot and repair electrical control issues as they arise. Use Input and Output indications on a PLC to diagnose and repair peripheral components assigned to those inputs and outputs. Fabricate and or modify mechanical components for equipment. Perform minor stick or TIG welds to repair damaged components. Perform complete line changeovers as product demand dictates.

Level G4 Key Result Expectations Demonstrated ability to lead maintenance projects which include new equipment installs and rebuilds when assigned. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues in all production equipment. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in all production equipment. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair advanced pneumatic and control issues in the processing area. Demonstrated ability to interpret CIP piping circuits and information feedback devices by looking at operator interface screens, direct observation, and schematics to determine and resolve issues. Demonstrated ability to rebuild pumps and or replace pump motors when required. Demonstrated ability to perform advanced fabrication and sanitary welds when required. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot using a laptop with PLC software. Note: access to any machine with a laptop requires permission from Maintenance Supervision or the Maintenance Manager. This includes hooking the laptop to a PLC, opening the program, establishing communication with the PLC, and navigating the program without making changes to verify operation. At a minimum, the above conditions must be met using Allen Bradley software.

Level G5 Key Result Expectations Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues with the HVAC systems. Attends and passes Ammonia Operator 1 training. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues with the Ammonia system. Possesses complete operational knowledge of the wastewater system including system control, waste flows, standard conditions, and chemical additions. Demonstrates ability to replace and commission faulty Allen Bradley drives. Demonstrates ability to lead Maintenance Team activities in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.

To be qualified for the Maintenance Technician level G2 level and eventually with training and certifications operate at a G5 level.

Using personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, hearing protection, protective clothing, and other equipment as established in company policies and safe work procedures.

Working with cutting and machining fluids, solvents, lubricants, and other hazardous chemicals using appropriate safety controls.

Lifting/moving objects up to 50 pounds in weight.

Frequent carrying, bending, standing, sitting, and repetitive motion.

Levels of noise greater than 60 decibels requiring hearing protection.

Smells or odors from spices, ingredients, or cleaning chemicals.
