The position at a glance

The Analytics Lab is BNP Paribas CIB’s center of excellence in artificial intelligence and machine learning, advancing the Bank’s AI transformation through applied research and the development of innovative solutions. As part of the Lab, you will work in a stimulating environment on high-impact projects addressing some of the most pressing challenges in enterprise AI. This internship will give you the opportunity to apply your technical expertise to real-world use cases while continuing to develop your skills alongside experienced AI practitioners.

In detail

During the four-month internship, you will contribute to an applied research project aligned with the Lab’s priorities. These projects explore advanced AI capabilities for our solutions and are designed with the ambition of producing work suitable for a publication at a leading AI conference. Potential topics include agentic AI, AI evaluation, GenAI model specialization, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program at a Canadian university in a quantitative field such as AI/ML, data science, computer science, engineering, operations research, statistics, or applied mathematics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience contributing to AI projects in Python, gained through internships, professional experience, research, coursework, open-source contributions, or personal projects. Relevant experience may include:
  • A portfolio demonstrating projects in agentic AI, generative AI, machine learning, data science, or deep learning.
  • Experience with generative AI or agentic frameworks, such as LangChain, LangGraph, Agent Development Kit (ADK), or Hugging Face Transformers, or with machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn or PyTorch.
  • Research presented or published at a leading AI conference or in a leading AI journal.
  • Practical experience with data analysis and visualization tools, including:
  • At least one data analysis or processing technology, such as pandas, Polars, SQL, Spark, or Dask.
  • Visualization libraries such as Plotly, Matplotlib, or Seaborn.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
