Overview

The Lead is responsible for supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality production throughout the shift. This role helps coordinate daily line activities, verifies required quality and production documentation, communicates with supervisors, QA, sanitation, utility, and associates, and ensures materials, equipment checks, staffing, changeovers, and production needs are handled effectively. The Lead is expected to model positive engagement, coach associates when needed, enter consumptions accurately into SAP, understand how to move items from PSA locations to the production floor, support smooth shift transitions, and keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with GMP standards.

Responsibilities → What You'll Do

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Quality checks and documentation:

a) Complete metal detector checks and verify that the correct metal detector sheet is used and documented.

b) Understand the product being run each day based on the production schedule.

c) Coordinate with QA as needed to support smooth operations and maintain quality standards.

d) Ensure quality always comes first by confirming codes, labels, and product materials are current each day.

  1. Start-of-shift preparation and pass down communication:

a) Gather required production paperwork at the start of the shift, including metal detector sheets, consumption sheets, production sheets, production tally sheets, slicer check sheets, and pre-op check sheets.

b) Communicate with the previous shift Lead regarding changeovers, mechanical issues, escalations, and current production being packed.

c) Communicate with the shift supervisor regarding call offs, vacation, and supervisor pass-down notes that need to be shared.

d) Communicate with the Lead on the opposite line regarding staffing, associate positioning, and any changeovers that may occur during the shift.

  1. Production performance and line coordination:

a) Complete metal detector checks and slicer checks during the shift as required.

b) Verify that all packaging materials, ingredients, and supplies used during the shift are entered accurately into SAP with no missing items.

c) Track materials accurately as part of the daily routine, including inputting consumptions and understanding how to move items from PSA locations to the production floor.

d) Monitor associate breaks and lunches to support proper line coverage.

e) Check freezer settings at the beginning of the shift and throughout the shift as needed.

  1. Associate communication and engagement:

a) Communicate with associates throughout the shift regarding daily operations and production needs.

b) Model positive engagement and lead by example.

c) Coach associates when needed and avoid simply completing work for them.

  1. Cleanliness, sanitation, and GMP compliance:

a) Maintain a clean and organized line throughout the shift.

b) At the end of the shift, ensure the line is fully cleaned, set up for the next shift, and compliant with GMP standards.

c) Communicate with utility and sanitation when modules or cans need emptied.

Qualifications → What You'll Bring

  1. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, QA, sanitation, utility, and associates.

  2. Must demonstrate strong product knowledge and the ability to follow the daily production schedule.

  3. Must be able to complete and verify required production, quality, and equipment check documentation.

  4. Must understand or be able to learn accurate SAP consumption entry and material movement from PSA locations to the production floor.

  5. Must demonstrate positive leadership, coaching ability, and strong teamwork.

  6. Must show up on time and work weekends as scheduled.

  7. Must be able to stand for an 8-hour shift with a 30 minute lunch break.

  8. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  9. Must be able to perform the essential job requirements with or without accommodation.

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in an office and manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, hear, sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend while moving about the facility. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the office is moderate and loud in the plant. Earplugs, hairnets, beardnets (if facial hair exists), safety glasses and steel-toed / slip-resistant shoes are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards
