The Lead Product Designer will lead the design of complex enterprise digital products and platforms, including responsive web portals and native mobile applications. This role will drive the end-to-end product design process, from user research and requirements gathering through wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, and final design delivery.

The Lead Product Designer will set the foundation for scalable design systems, guide collaboration between teams, and create meaningful solutions that balance user needs with business goals.

This role requires a system-thinking mindset to create clarity across complex, multi-touch point experiences through design to shape consistent, scalable experiences. After initial engagement, the Lead Product Designer will continue to lead strategic initiatives across a variety of sectors, products and teams, bringing both vision and structure to our evolving digital landscape.

The position will lead design teams and collaborate with cross functional stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and marketing to drive product vision and deliver high-quality solutions. The Lead Product Designer will facilitate stakeholder working sessions, present design concepts and recommendations, and provide guidance and mentorship to other designers as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end product design lifecycle, including research, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, testing, and delivery

• Define user experience strategy and design principles for responsive web and native mobile products

• Architect and maintain scalable design systems with tokens, documentation, and shared libraries

• Conduct user research, usability testing, persona development, and journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing to ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience

• Facilitate collaboration across product, development, and marketing teams to define product requirements and align design direction

• Translate complex business and user requirements into elegant, innovative, functional design solutions

• Present and communicate design work to internal and external stakeholders

• Support and mentor other designers, guide and contribute to team design practices

• Run usability tests, synthesize user insights, and turn them into actionable improvements

• Identify opportunities to improve user experience through process improvements, automation, and relevant technology tools

• Integrate AI-driven tools into the design process to accelerate ideation, content generation, and UX decision-making

• Identify opportunities to embed AI or automation in user journeys to improve efficiency, personalization, or experience impact

• This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate design rationale, advocate for design principles, and align the team and stakeholders around the design vision

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Multimedia Science and Technology; Multimedia Communications and Information Technology; or a related field.

• Five years of experience as a Lead Product Designer in high-complexity industries, such as enterprise, fintech, automotive, industrial, tourism, or other complex industries, as well as:

• UX/UI or product design, including experience in leading large-scale digital initiatives

• Experience leading design teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (product managers, engineers, and marketing) to drive product vision and deliver high-quality solutions.

• Experience with user research, usability testing, wireframing, prototyping, persona development, and journey mapping.

• Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and developers.

• Experience facilitating workshops and presenting to stakeholders.

• Experience with Figma or similar design tools.

• Experience with modern product design systems, tokens, documentation libraries, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or other prototyping tools.

• Experience leading design work on complex digital platforms or enterprise systems.

• A strong portfolio showcasing product design leadership in digital platforms.

• UX Certification required.

• Position based out of Chicago, IL. Hybrid WFH 90% and WFO 10% within the Chicago, IL MSA.

• Salary: $120,665 - $140,000
