The Global and European Procurement Organization of ArcelorMittal (EPO) manages a wide portfolio of commodities and services at global level: our team covers all the products and services needed by our plants, including raw materials, industrial services, industrial equipment, spares and maintenance, as well as capital expenditure items, energy, by-products and logistics. Overall scope amounts to more than $30bn/year.

We use an approach to procurement that involves the development of category-specific strategies, in line with the structure of specific markets, aiming to ensure we deliver the best possible service and value to our internal customers – through the application of a procurement model that employs the principles of 'total cost of ownership' (TCO).

Our Global Operating, Ind Prod & IT/Telco team is looking for a Lead Buyer in the Refractory team.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Procurement

• Prepare and develop Purchasing Strategy based on Market knowledge and contribute to the overall strategy of the product category

• Plan, prepare and Lead negotiations with key global and regional suppliers

• Ensure timely renewal of contracts and communication to the key stakeholders

• Coordinate and conclude negotiations for specific projects such as volume tenders

• Cost reduction and Stakeholder management

• Initiate and follow-up cost reduction projects in close coordination with CTO/Lead Users

• Ensure close and regular communication with the mills, segments, regions

• Develop and maintain relationship with Key Suppliers. Promote partner-like behavior and encourage and ensure generation and implementation of cost reduction initiatives

• Follow up and implementation of key strategic levers such as Captive source development, Low cost/price / Best Value Country sourcing, etc.

• Additional opportunities / requirements

• Promote the use of Digital tools, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence to oversee multiple KPIs, cost data, benchmarking and competition watch.

• Operate in a multi-cultural and international environment

• Maintain proximity to mills (customers) and suppliers with necessary travels, mainly within Europe but occasionally to outside destinations.

Profile Required:

• Master’s degree in Engineering and/or Sciences OR alternatively MBA/similar from Top ranked B-school

• Industrial experience OR commercial experience – International Buyer/Seller as a plus, but not a limiting factor if the candidate has potential to grow strategically

• Have an industrial background or eager to grow in an industrial organization

• Have problem-solving, analytical skills and good ease facing numbers

• Have a good technical knowledge of contracts and targeted systems but also in project management and negotiation

• Demonstrate leadership and communication skills and have an appetite for innovative industry and cutting edge and new age technology

• Experience in commercial department (Procurement/Marketing / Sales) especially for Refractory products would be a plus

• Willing to work in a multi-cultural and international environment

• Able to travel (up to 30%) with Europe and occasionally beyond

• Fluent in English. Any additional European language is a plus
