About the Role Laboratory Assistant I supports the cytology laboratory at Evanston Hospital as part of a skilled team providing processing, staining, and preparation of cytology specimens. The role contributes to accurate specimen triage, processing, and technical support to ensure quality patient results. What You'll Do
- Triage cytology specimens: gross specimens and accession specimens
- Process gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens using various processing and staining techniques
- Provide customer support as a technical liaison for the cytology laboratory for inquiries
- Support specimen send-outs by completing patient sample requests
- Maintain a clean laboratory station and work alongside the team to manage inventory, logs, equipment functions, and troubleshoot issues in the laboratory with the supervisor What We're Looking For
- Education: College degree preferably in science
- Certification: n/a
- Experience: Lab experience preferred
- Unique or Preferred Skills: Laboratory experience preferred Nice to Have
- Laboratory experience
- Cytology laboratory environment familiarity Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $18.84 - $27.32 per hour
