Job title: Junior Accountant
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate possesses a strong grasp of fundamental accounting principles, hands-on proficiency in QuickBooks, and advanced capabilities in Microsoft Excel. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate general ledger records, processing transactions, and assisting with financial reporting and month-end close procedures.
Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate financial records, record daily transactions, and ensure all journal entries are properly documented and authorized using QuickBooks.

Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process vendor invoices, manage payment schedules, track customer billings, and follow up on outstanding receivables to maintain healthy cash flow.

Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly bank, credit card, and vendor reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.

Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare routine financial schedules, budget variance reports, and management statements utilizing advanced Microsoft Excel tools (e.g., pivot tables and financial formulas).

Month-End Support: Assist the senior finance team with month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, prepayments, and asset depreciation schedules.

Audit & Compliance Support: Organize financial documentation, receipts, and supporting schedules to facilitate internal reviews, tax filings (VAT, PAYE and WHT).

Record Management: Maintain digital and physical filing systems for all financial transactions in compliance with corporate governance policies and local financial regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Professional accounting certifications (or in-progress status with ICAN, ACCA, etc.) are a distinct advantage.

Experience: 2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or corporate finance roles (internship experience included).

Technical Software Proficiency:

Demonstrated hands-on experience using QuickBooks (Desktop or Online) for ledger management, invoicing, and reporting.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to handle large datasets, utilize formulas, build pivot tables, and format financial spreadsheets cleanly.
