Mission Description: Job Purpose: To lead, coordinate and support a team of Inventory controllers and apprentices responsible for AGL Namibia inventory store. The supervisor will be responsible for managing, planning, reporting, budget support and performance management. The position will be liaising with supply chain personnel and internal customers to ensure optimum Inventory levels are set, and accurate Inventory records are maintained to allow all parties to make informed decisions. Effective supervision, over inspections and quality control forms part of this role.

Requirements

  • Planning (MRP) accuracy through proper ERP master data management.

  • Review and validate Stock Replenishment Reports (SRR).

  • Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels to prevent stock shortages and overstocking.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and master data.

  • Continuously improve inventory planning processes and ERP system effectiveness.

  • Inventory Monitoring & System Control

  • Monitor inventory receipts, transfers, and issues.

  • Identify inventory movement trends and provide recommendations.

  • Coordinate responses to supply emergencies and stock shortages.

  • Ensure pricing and inventory values remain accurate within the ERP system.

  • Participate in inventory planning meetings and special improvement projects.

  • Stocktaking & Inventory Control

  • Lead annual stocktakes and cycle counting programs.

  • Coordinate inventory audits and variance investigations.

  • Perform detailed analysis of stock discrepancies.

  • Maintain complete audit records and stock count documentation.

  • Drive corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.

  • Reporting & Performance Management

  • Prepare inventory performance reports and KPI dashboards.

  • Monitor stock count accuracy and inventory integrity.

  • Compile slow-moving and obsolete stock reports.

  • Provide inventory insights to support operational and financial decision-making.

  • Team Leadership & Resource Coordination

  • Supervise Inventory Controllers and Apprentices.

  • Coordinate leave planning, labour allocation, and overtime requirements.

  • Ensure optimum staffing levels during operational peak periods.

  • Support employee performance management and development initiatives.

  • Safety, Health and Environment

  • Hold and exercise Statutory / Legal appointment accountability for all persons under supervision, ensuring compliance with PPE requirements, critical controls, risk assessments, permits, and site safety standards across the section.

  • Conduct and oversee pre-start toolbox talks, job risk reviews (HIRA / JSA), and unannounced workplace inspections; stop unsafe work immediately and document all findings.

  • Lead incident investigations (injury, near-miss, equipment damage) with full root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure corrective actions are implemented, tracked, and closed out.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Pass) is essential

  • Minimum bachelor's degree (NQA 7) in Supply chain Management Discipline is essential

  • Deep knowledge on how to use MS excel for Data analysis is essential

  • Certification in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) is an added advantage

  • Knowledge of inventory Management systems (IMS), warehouse management system (WMS) and ERP like Maximo is an advantage

  • Supervisory or management qualification/training like MDP will be a distinct advantage

  • Code B/BE driver's license.

  • Valid police certificate of conduct

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of Six (6) years of relevant experience post qualification attainment
  • Minimum one (1) years' experience as a supervisor
  • Proven experience using a ERP (Maximo or equivalent) for inventory management
  • Deep understanding of cycle counting, physical inventory audits, and valuation methods (like FIFO and LIFO)
  • Experience in supporting OPEX budgeting, variance reporting, and cost control
  • Good communication skills, excellent health and safety knowledge and awareness
  • Ability to work effectively independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Skill in resolving stock discrepancies, missing shipments, and overstock issues.
  • High accuracy in record-keeping and tracking inventory metrics.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, attend to after-hours when required
