About the Role The internship places you in the Cabinet of the Director-General, assisting the Advisor in preparing notes on UNESCO's activities and contributing to speeches and communications. You will gain exposure to high-level decision-making and the interactions of an international organization with the UN system and the 2030 Agenda. What You'll Do
- Assist the Advisor in preparing notes and opinions on administrative, political and communications issues related to UNESCO's activities and fields of competency.
- Help prepare elements for Director-General interventions in French and English as part of the Speechwriting Pool (Pôle Langage).
- Write speeches, talking points, messages, editorials, articles and forewords.
- Carry out documentary research to support speeches or official visits by the Director-General.
- Under the supervision of the Head of the Pôle Langage, revise correspondence to be signed by the Director-General. What We're Looking For
- Age: at least 20 years old.
- Academic qualifications: currently enrolled in the 3rd year or final year of a Bachelor’s degree; OR enrolled in a second degree (Master’s or PhD) or equivalent; OR completed a Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD within the last 12 months; OR technical/vocational pathway with last-year enrollment or recent graduation (within 12 months).
- Languages: excellent command of English or French, with a working knowledge of the other language;
- Computer skills: excellent knowledge of computer systems and office-related software;
- Team player with ability to work in an international environment;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; conscientious, proactive and discreet. Nice to Have
- Experience in speechwriting or editorial writing;
- Proficiency in both English and French;
- Familiarity with international organizations or diplomacy. Compensation & Benefits
- UNESCO does not remunerate interns; there is no monetary compensation.
- Leave entitlement: 2.5 days per month, plus an additional 1 working day per complete month of internship.
- Insurance: limited workplace insurance coverage against risk of injury, illness, disability or death directly attributable to the internship.
- Additional requirements: applicants must arrange and finance travel and obtain any necessary visas; provide proof of comprehensive health insurance valid in the host country.
