Job title: Graphic Designer
About the Role As the Graphic Designer at Schmidt Sciences, you will shape our visual identity and amplify the impact of our research through compelling design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create materials that inform, persuade, and engage our audience.
What You'll Do
- Event Design: Develop visually engaging graphics for all signature SCSP events, including promotional materials, presentations, signage, and social media assets.
- Editorial Design: Collaborate with research panels to design and format reports, newsletters, papers, placemats, and other publications; ensure materials are visually appealing, easy to navigate, and communicate complex information; obtain approvals from SCSP directorates.
- Digital and Social Media Support: Create eye-catching graphics and animations for SCSP's social channels, align with brand guidelines, optimize for each platform, and develop digital advertising assets.
- Brand Development: Contribute to evolving SCSP's visual identity, update brand guidelines, create logo variations and templates to ensure consistency.
- Website & Digital Assets: Collaborate with the website developer to maintain appealing web pages, event landing pages, and other digital assets.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in graphic design, preferably in a non-profit, think tank, or similar organization.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design software.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with colleagues across departments.
- A keen eye for detail, strong visual aesthetic, and a passion for creating impactful designs.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with animation or motion graphics.
- Familiarity with web design principles.
Nice to Have
- Experience creating or updating brand guidelines, logos, and templates.
- Experience with data visualization or information design.
- Experience designing for non-profit or policy-oriented audiences.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: USD 64,000 - 92,500 per year. Exempt position.
