About this role

GPU as a Service (GPUaaS) Acquisition / New Pursuits Sales Executive

Job Profile Summary

The GPUaaS Acquisition / New Pursuits Sales Executive is a senior individual contributor responsible for creating and closing net-new GPU as a Service business. The role owns the full pursuit lifecycle - target-account identification, outbound prospecting, opportunity qualification, discovery, solution orchestration, commercial strategy, proposal, negotiation, contracting, and booking - with a primary focus on new logos and material new GPU workloads. The executive acts as the single-threaded sales owner for assigned pursuits and mobilizes Rackspace GPUaaS specialists, solution architecture, Product, Capacity/Operations, Finance, Legal, Delivery, and strategic ecosystem partners to win complex accelerated-compute opportunities.

Role Mission

Create net-new demand and convert qualified enterprise AI, training, inference, HPC, and accelerated-compute opportunities into profitable GPUaaS bookings. Build a focused pursuit engine that prioritizes high-value accounts and workloads, maintains sufficient qualified pipeline coverage, advances opportunities with urgency and discipline, and wins based on customer outcomes, technical fit, capacity availability, commercial competitiveness, and execution credibility.

Career Level Summary

  • Operates as a senior P5 individual contributor and expert seller for complex GPUaaS pursuits; no people-management responsibility is required.
  • Owns the customer relationship and sales outcome for assigned new-logo and new-pursuit opportunities from first engagement through contract execution and handoff.
  • Leads cross-functional pursuit teams through influence and establishes clear owners, actions, dates, decision criteria, and close plans.
  • Uses customer, workload, competitive, capacity, financial, and pipeline data to determine where to invest pursuit resources and when to qualify out.
  • Contributes field intelligence to GPUaaS GTM strategy, including ideal customer profile, use cases, competitive positioning, pricing signals, buying patterns, and product/capacity requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own an assigned GPUaaS bookings quota and deliver profitable net-new bookings consistent with approved pricing, capacity, contractual, and gross-margin guardrails.

  • Build and maintain a prioritized target-account and workload list focused on organizations with credible accelerated-compute demand, funding, timing, technical fit, and buying authority.

  • Generate new opportunities through direct outbound pursuit, executive networks, marketing-generated demand, strategic technology partners such as AMD and NVIDIA, channel/referral partners, ecosystem relationships, and customer introductions.

  • Qualify opportunities rigorously across workload/use case, GPU platform requirements, cluster size, geography, capacity timing, term, commercial value, decision process, competition, funding, and customer urgency before committing material pursuit resources.

  • Lead customer discovery and translate business and technical requirements into a clear pursuit strategy and differentiated GPUaaS value proposition.

  • Orchestrate Solution Architecture, Product, Engineering, Capacity/Operations, Delivery, Finance, Legal, Security, and executive sponsors to develop executable customer solutions and proposals.

  • Develop and maintain a written close plan for material pursuits, including customer decision criteria, buying process, technical validation, commercial milestones, competition, risks, executive relationships, next actions, owners, and dates.

  • Own proposal, bid/RFP, pricing, negotiation, and contracting strategy in partnership with Finance, Legal, Deal Desk, and GPUaaS leadership; protect approved economics while maximizing probability of close.

  • Create multithreaded customer relationships across economic buyer, technical buyer, procurement, finance, legal, infrastructure/AI leadership, and executive sponsors.

  • Use AMD, NVIDIA, OEM, ISV, channel, and other ecosystem relationships strategically when they improve access, technical credibility, solution differentiation, or probability of winning the pursuit.

  • Maintain accurate CRM data and forecast discipline, including source, stage, amount, term, probability, close date, capacity requirement, next step, blockers, and forecast category.

  • Inspect pipeline weekly for stage movement, aging, qualification quality, capacity alignment, competitive risk, and gap-to-goal; proactively create new pipeline when coverage or conversion is insufficient.

  • Ensure clean transition of booked business to implementation/delivery and the designated post-sale owner while remaining engaged through critical launch milestones when necessary to protect customer confidence and expansion potential.

  • Capture win/loss insights and feed recurring customer, competitive, pricing, product, capacity, and contracting themes back into the GPUaaS operating model.

  • Knowledge

  • Expert-level enterprise acquisition selling and complex pursuit management, including prospecting, qualification, discovery, executive selling, negotiation, contracting, and closing.

  • Strong working knowledge of GPUaaS, accelerated computing, AI/ML training and inference, HPC, cloud/data-center infrastructure, and the commercial drivers of enterprise AI infrastructure purchases.

  • Working knowledge of GPU platforms and ecosystem participants such as AMD, NVIDIA, OEM/server vendors, ISVs, integrators, channel partners, cloud providers, and GPU/neocloud providers; sufficient depth to position value and orchestrate technical experts without acting as the primary solution architect.

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including bookings, ACV/TCV, contract term, consumption/commit constructs, pricing, sold gross margin, capacity economics, deal risk, and approval guardrails.

  • Expert knowledge of opportunity qualification, pipeline management, CRM discipline, forecasting, account/pursuit planning, and competitive strategy.

  • Understanding of data-center capacity, deployment timing, power/cooling constraints, networking, storage, software stack, and service-readiness considerations that can materially affect GPUaaS pursuits.
