Global Learning Advisor
Position Summary
The Global Learning Advisor is a student-facing professional responsible for assisting students with identifying, pursuing, and reflecting on global learning and other high-impact educational experiences. Working collaboratively with colleagues in the Global Learning Office, the Advisor provides developmental advising, supports student engagement and outreach, builds and fosters connections with academic advisors, campus partners, and third-party partner providers, and leads initiatives that encourage students to integrate their experiences into their broader Hamilton education.
Responsibilities

Student Advising
-
Provide individual and group advising to students for study abroad and other global learning opportunities.

Assist students with identifying experiences that align with their academic, personal, and professional goals.

Assist students with understanding how global and experiential learning opportunities can complement their academic and co-curricular experiences.

Guide students through program exploration, academic planning, transfer credit processes, and application process.

Refer students requiring specialized advising or complex support to the Assistant Director, Director, or other campus partner, as appropriate.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with program advisors and representatives of partner institutions and organizations to ensure communication of information for student advising.

Build collaborative relationships with campus partners, including Career Center, International Student Services, Fellowship Advising, Health Professions Advising, Student Opportunity Programs, ALEX Advisors and other campus offices.

Program Coordination and Recruitment

Serve as the Global Learning Office’s primary point of contact for Hamilton in France.

Coordinate communication and information flow among students, on-site Paris staff, and Global Learning Office.

Monitor the overall student experience and program timeline.

Respond to questions and issues and direct them to the appropriate staff member when appropriate.

Assist with other administrative tasks including but not limited to, billing and visa process and compliance.

Create and distribute marketing materials for Hamilton Programs Abroad.

Organize on-campus Hamilton Programs Abroad info sessions.
-
Represent Hamilton in France (HiF) and Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain (HCAYS) programs at study abroad fairs organized by sending schools.

Student Engagement
-
Represent the Global Learning Office at campus events, college-wide admissions events, academic department open houses promoting Hamilton's global learning opportunities.

Support the coordination and mentoring of the Global Learning Ambassador program.

Develop strategies to engage students early in their Hamilton experience.

Assist with identifying populations of students who may benefit from targeted outreach and engagement.

Create and distribute content for newsletters, digital communications, and promotional materials.

Develop opportunities for students who have participated in global learning experiences to share their experiences with prospective participants.

Reflection, Re-Entry, and Integration

Lead the development and implementation of re-entry programming for students who have returned from study abroad.

Create opportunities for students to reflect on their experiences and articulate what they have learned.

Assist students with connecting global learning experiences to academic, personal, and professional development.

Explore approaches to reflection and integration that eventually can be applied more broadly to experiential learning and community engagement.

Office Operations and Assessment

Assist with student preparation and pre-departure programming as requested.

Provide feedback to colleagues about reoccurring questions, advising trends, and areas where students may need additional support.

Assist with the assessment of student development and learning.

Assist with data collection and annual reporting related to student participation and engagement.

Contribute to a collaborative office culture by sharing responsibility for achieving the mission of the Global Learning Office and the College.

Qualifications
-
Required
-
Bachelor's degree.
-
Experience in education abroad, experiential learning, student affairs, or a related field within higher education.
-
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
-
Must be able to drive.
-
Preferred
-
Professional training in advising and/or study abroad through professional associations, relevant workshops and conferences, or other relevant training courses.

Experience with digital marketing tools and graphic design.
-
Experience developing student engagement, reflection, and experiential learning programs.
-
Experience working across academic and co-curricular areas of a college/university.
-
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Compensation Range:
- $62, 354 - $64,000 per year
