About the Role The Nursing Simulation faculty position at Stevenson University is a 9-month, full-time, campus-based role within the Nursing Department of the Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions. The role includes teaching, student advising and mentoring, course development, service to the school and university, and ongoing scholarship. The position requires teaching 24-30 contact hours per academic year in the Entry-Into-Practice Nursing program, with responsibilities spanning simulation, didactic theory, and/or clinical experiences.
What You'll Do
- Engage in instructional activity totaling 24-30 contact hours per academic year, including theory, simulation, and clinical experiences.
- Collaborate with nursing faculty to integrate simulation technology and education strategies into curriculum; develop and deliver learning experiences aligned with course and clinical objectives.
- Facilitate simulation and skills-based learning according to evidence-based standards; manage documents related to learning objectives and outcomes using web-based systems.
- Provide orientation and training to Clinical Supervisors in simulation as appropriate; schedule and manage simulation spaces and technology; troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
- Support student recruitment/retention, program assessment, and ongoing engagement in university life; advise and mentor students and supervise student scholarly activity.
- Prepare teaching materials, provide timely feedback to students, and collaborate with faculty and staff for equipment maintenance.
What We're Looking For
- Doctorate degree in nursing or a related field and a Master’s degree in nursing required for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher; Master’s degree in nursing required for Clinical Assistant Professor.
- College-level teaching experience; recent clinical nursing experience (within the past 1-4 years); at least two years of experience in nursing simulation.
- CPR certification required; CNE or certification in area of clinical practice preferred.
- Maryland Board of Nursing certification or eligibility.
- Demonstrated ability to teach in nursing using high-fidelity and other simulation systems; strong communication, interpersonal, and cultural competency skills.
- Knowledge of current teaching/learning theories and processes in simulation education; ability to develop, implement, and assess student learning; proficiency with Blackboard and learning management technologies; ability to work with diverse student populations.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency with Blackboard or similar LMS; experience with database management and other computer skills.
- Experience coordinating simulation spaces/equipment and collaborating with IT and external vendors.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed and to travel between campuses.
