Position Details
Doane University, a liberal arts university in Crete, Nebraska, is hiring a Financial Aid Counselor to provide excellent customer service and guidance to students and their families. We provide thorough training to ensure your success in providing assistance with all aspects of financial aid, including determining eligibility, clarifying policies, managing the loan processes, and providing information on financing options.

18.50 - 22.00
Minimum Required Qualifications
Requires an associate’s degree and two (2) years of experience in a highly regulated field that includes managing deadlines, maintaining detailed, accurate records, and ensuring confidentiality and compliance; customer service experience that includes de-escalation and problem-solving; effective verbal and written communication with internal partners and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and experience with financial aid in higher education are preferred.
Experience that demonstrates the following is a plus:
- Collaboration across departments or functional offices.
- Compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Successful use of technology to determine student eligibility and originate a financial aid award.
- Able to explain, in lay terms, available types of financial aid, scholarships, and general student eligibility criteria.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse families.
