About the Role We are seeking a Facility Engineer at the Fujisawa site to maintain and improve mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems across the facility, including cleanroom areas. You will lead projects to upgrade aging equipment, optimize reliability and energy efficiency, and manage external partners. This role supports the infrastructure that powers AI-driven data storage at WD, ensuring safe, reliable operations and scalable facilities. What You'll Do
- Plan, execute, and manage equipment projects including mechanical systems, HVAC, and plumbing
- Maintain and improve facility infrastructure and utilities design; coordinate updates and refurbishments
- Manage vendors and contractors; oversee operations and maintenance of each system
- Conduct temperature surveys and HVAC control optimization; propose design improvements for reliability and energy efficiency
- Collaborate with office and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth project progress and timely delivery What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- 3+ years' experience in plant equipment installation and facilities engineering
- Knowledge of building services planning and design; factory infrastructure installation and management
- Strong project management skills; proven problem-solving and communication abilities
- Native-level Japanese; English daily business proficiency
- Experience negotiating with external contractors and coordinating with vendors
- CAD drawing knowledge Nice to Have
- Specific knowledge in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing domains; electrical engineering knowledge
- Certifications such as Waterworks Manager, Fire Prevention Manager, Energy Manager
- Experience with CAD drawing; BMS/IoT/AI for smart factory initiatives
- Practical experience with Microsoft Power Automate and AI-driven workflow improvements Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated annual compensation: 7.5 to 10.5 million JPY (annual salary), monthly salary from 360,000 JPY+
- Bonus: fixed allowance twice a year; incentive bonus once a year
- Flexible work arrangements: discretionary labor system option with allowance payments
- Relocation allowances: moving allowance 450,000 JPY for singles, 750,000 JPY for families; housing allowance up to 6 years
