The Controller's Office is responsible for AARP's enterprise-wide accounting activities. This includes maintaining internal controls; compliance with federal, state, and other legal reporting requirements; grants management; revenue recognition; general ledger activity; accounts payable/receivable; payroll; tax; and procurement functions to include managing strategic outsourcing, contract negotiation and supplier management.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the monthly closes, annual close and audits, as well as daily operations. Provides
  • process flows, data, and configuration documentation of the ERP.
  • Monitors and assists with project functionality, decision making and delivery to include
  • budgeting, timeline, and management of business requirements. Provides innovative solutions
  • to complex requirements.
  • Identifies or is informed of projects for the ongoing business needs of the Association,
  • improves reporting solutions, monitors risk, ensures the accuracy of the data, monitors
  • security to support the roles of the ERP users and the provides education to staff and users.
  • Collaborates with other support groups to integrate time, money and resources to meet the
  • goals of each team. Handles the conflicts with time, money and resources based on varying
  • projects.
  • Ensures that the team works together and has opportunities to grow and develop new skill
  • sets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience supporting, implementing, or managing ERP systems, financial systems, or related business applications

  • Strong experience and comprehensive knowledge of PeopleSoft, including functional configuration, business processes, reporting, security, data integrity, and day-to-day ERP operations.

  • Strong experience implementing and supporting PeopleSoft ERP solutions, including requirements gathering, configuration, testing, process improvement, integrations, troubleshooting, and successful delivery of complex business requirements.

  • Demonstrated people management and leadership experience, including leading and developing teams, managing priorities and resources, resolving competing demands, and fostering opportunities for employees to develop new skills and capabilities.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting monthly and annual financial close processes, including ensuring data accuracy, validating system functionality and transactions, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with Finance and other stakeholders to meet close deadlines.

  • Experience managing and supporting annual financial and/or system audits, including coordinating audit requests, providing documentation and data, validating system controls and processes, addressing findings, and partnering with auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure successful completion of audits.
