About this role

About the Role The Cloud Data Engineer will be a subject-matter expert responsible for designing and implementing scalable cloud data architectures using Snowflake and Azure, across the data lifecycle and collaborating with cross functional teams. The role involves hands-on development, optimization, security, and mentoring peers to improve data workflows. What You'll Do

  • Design and implement scalable cloud data architectures using Snowflake and Azure.
  • Configure Snowflake environments including warehouses, roles, resource monitors, and data sharing.
  • Work with Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Blob Storage, Data Lake Storage, Key Vault, and Active Directory.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to design and optimize ELT/ETL pipelines.
  • Optimize Snowflake performance through clustering, partitioning, query tuning, and warehouse sizing.
  • Implement role based access control within Snowflake and Azure.
  • Support data security strategies including encryption, masking, and row/column level security.
  • Monitor performance and cost usage in Snowflake and Azure; support cost optimization and scaling.
  • Troubleshoot data load and performance issues.
  • Document architecture designs, data flows, and standards.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, BI teams, and security teams; participate in design reviews. What We're Looking For
  • Education: 4 year college degree in computer science or information systems preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 4+ years in enterprise data warehouse; 2+ years cloud data engineering or cloud platform support; 4+ years data architecture and data marts.
  • Skills: Understanding of cloud networking basics such as VNet and private endpoints; Snowflake data loading and SQL; Azure Data Factory, Blob Storage and IAM concepts; CI/CD/DevOps familiarity.
  • 4+ years of experience writing complex SQL.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, negotiation, issue resolution, and communication skills.
  • Experience with data sources including 3rd party RDBMS such as SQL Server and Oracle.
  • QA/QC testing experience a plus; project management experience a plus.
  • Experience with research data models like OMOP and CAPriCORN a plus.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI a plus.
  • Healthcare industry familiarity is a plus. Nice to Have
  • Healthcare domain knowledge and Power BI experience; OMOP or CAPriCORN familiarity. Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: 41.64 to 64.54 USD per hour.
