About the Role We are seeking experienced Campus Police Officers to join a growing police department on the Lees-McRae College campus in Banner Elk, NC. The role focuses on patrol, security, crime prevention, investigations, and campus safety to protect students, staff, and property. What You'll Do
- Utilize relationship-based, community-building, proactive policing techniques to ensure human safety and campus property security.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide basic first aid, coordinating with other police or emergency personnel as appropriate.
- Apprehend and/or identify suspects, investigate, arrest, cite, and charge criminal suspects per North Carolina General Statutes and applicable laws.
- Prepare written reports, collect evidence, and gather victim/witness statements of criminal acts or policy violations.
- Maintain high-visibility patrolling of campus property on foot and by vehicle to identify hazards and take corrective measures.
- Monitor police and fire department radio channels and emergency phone lines; respond to calls for service promptly.
- Perform traffic control duties and motorist assistance.
- Lead and participate in crime prevention and campus safety training programs; assist with training of newly hired Campus Police Officers and College Security Officers.
- Other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary degree in criminal justice or related field.
- Prior law enforcement experience. Nice to Have
- CPR, First-Aid, and/or AED certifications. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Starting at $55,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Sign-on and regular retention bonuses with continued employment.
