Job Description

Kolomoni Business is how agents, merchants, traders and MSMEs bank with us — business accounts, payment acceptance, operating tools, savings and responsible transaction-led finance. We are looking for someone to own that segment and build it into the institution's principal commercial growth engine.

This is a segment ownership role, not a team leadership one. You will be accountable for what the Business Banking portfolio delivers, and you will achieve it through the distribution network, Product, Credit and Technology rather than by direct command. If you have only ever delivered a number through people who report to you, this will be a difficult role.

What you will do

  • Own the Business Banking segment strategy, commercial plan and portfolio performance.
  • Define propositions for agency banking, merchant services, formal businesses and informal MSMEs.
  • Grow funded, active business accounts and mobilise business deposits — measured on balances that stay, not accounts opened.
  • Grow merchant payment volume, value and revenue, and active POS and QR acceptance.
  • Specify the commercial requirements for onboarding, KYB, settlement visibility, reconciliation and dispute support, and hold the owning functions to them.
  • Equip the field network with the propositions, pricing, materials and sector knowledge needed to sell the segment.
  • Build finance-readiness pathways for businesses in the portfolio, and coordinate credit origination with Credit and Risk under approved policy.
  • Own segment revenue, contribution, acquisition cost and payback, and account for variance against plan.

Requirements

  • What we are looking for
  • A first degree in banking, finance, business, economics, marketing or a related discipline.
  • Five to seven years in SME banking, merchant acquiring, agency banking, payments, sales or portfolio management.
  • Evidence of delivering business and revenue targets through a distribution network rather than a direct team.
  • Working knowledge of MSME needs and behaviour, merchant payments, POS and QR acceptance, business accounts and deposit mobilisation, KYB, settlement and reconciliation, and cash-flow lending.
  • Commercial judgement, portfolio analysis and unit economics, negotiation, and the ability to influence across functions and the field without authority over either.
