We are seeking a Automation Test Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise-scale test automation solutions across web applications, APIs, and microservices. This hands-on technical leadership role supports mission-critical systems within the EEOC environment by driving software quality, automation maturity, and modern AI-enabled quality engineering practices.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, Software Development, DevOps, and Program Leadership teams to improve testing efficiency, accelerate release cycles, and ensure reliable, secure, and compliant digital services. This is a fully remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI-Enabled Quality Engineering

  • Leverage AI-powered tools, including GitHub Copilot and similar technologies, to accelerate test case development, test data generation, automation scripting, and framework maintenance.

  • Implement AI-assisted approaches for defect triage, root cause analysis, and impact assessment.

  • Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, reduce manual testing effort, and enhance quality outcomes through AI-driven solutions.

  • Design, execute, and analyze performance testing scenarios using Apache JMeter or comparable performance testing tools.

  • Test Automation Engineering

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks using Java and modern test automation technologies.

  • Build automated test suites for functional, integration, regression, smoke, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing.

  • Develop and maintain UI automation using Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent automation frameworks.

  • Establish automation standards, reusable components, and engineering best practices that support enterprise-wide adoption.

  • Analyze test execution results, troubleshoot failures, and provide actionable recommendations to development and quality teams.

  • Continuously improve automation coverage, reliability, and testing efficiency across applications and platforms.

  • API Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Design and implement automated testing solutions for RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

  • Create API test collections, validations, and automated test suites using Postman, Rest Assured, or equivalent tools.

  • Validate functionality, authentication, authorization, data integrity, and system integrations across API layers.

  • Support functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing initiatives.

  • Ensure quality and reliability across user interface, middleware, and backend service layers.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience developing automation frameworks using Java.

  • Proven hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or similar web automation tools.

  • Experience developing and maintaining API test automation using Postman, Rest Assured, or equivalent solutions.

  • Experience testing RESTful APIs, web services, and microservices-based architectures.

  • Working knowledge of SQL, database validation techniques, and data testing methodologies.

  • Experience with Git, source control best practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum software development methodologies.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Strong programming proficiency in Java.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing AI-assisted software testing and quality engineering practices.

  • Experience working within federal government, highly regulated, or compliance-driven environments.

  • Knowledge of cloud-based testing environments and DevOps practices.

  • Experience with performance testing tools such as Apache JMeter.
