About the Role

The University of the Pacific, School of Health Sciences invites qualified applicants to apply for a full-time, core faculty, 11-month, tenure-track position in the Entry-Level Occupational Therapy (OTD) program at the Sacramento campus. Rank (Assistant, Associate, or Professor) will reflect qualifications and academic experience. The successful candidate will teach OTD program content in both didactic and clinical settings, advise students, participate in simulation and interprofessional education, contribute to curriculum development, and support accreditation preparation activities. Faculty are expected to attend program, curriculum, and other campus committee meetings, and may engage in outreach to clinical agencies as well as evaluating part-time faculty and interviewing prospective students. Retention and promotion depend on effective teaching, interprofessional collaboration, research, scholarly activities, and service to the University. The position includes support for research, professional development, and scholarly activities, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

What You'll Do

  • Teach OTD program content in both didactic and clinical settings; advise students; participate in simulation; contribute to curriculum development; support interprofessional education; assist with student and part-time faculty orientation; and participate in accreditation preparation activities.
  • Attend program, curriculum, and campus committee meetings; engage with clinical agencies; orient and evaluate part-time faculty; interview prospective students.
  • Demonstrate effective teaching, interprofessional collaboration, research, creative activity, and service to the University for retention and promotion; utilize available resources for research and scholarly activities.

What We're Looking For

  • Terminal degree (PP-OTD, PhD, EdD) from an accredited university with experience in curriculum development, research, and supervision of graduate projects.
  • Initial NBCOT certification as an OTR and California OT license.
  • Teaching experience: minimum 4 years teaching in a doctoral-level OT program.
  • Experience in curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, and innovative pedagogical approaches; evidence of scholarship for promotion.
  • Minimum four years of clinical OT practice and experience supervising Fieldwork II.

Nice to Have

  • Active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
  • Familiarity with ACOTE accreditation standards.
  • Five years’ experience teaching entry-level OT content.
  • Experience mentoring graduate student research or capstone projects; demonstrated experience with simulation or innovative teaching modalities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion; ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices.
  • Experience with online learning management systems and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Sacramento medical community and professional memberships.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards (WASC, ACOTE) and experience with LMS, AI, VR/AR; sensitivity in working with diverse populations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hiring Range: $120,000-$130,000 per year. This is an in-person, 11-month position with relocation considered within California, preferably within 25 miles of the Sacramento campus.
