Job title: Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor
About the Role The University of the Pacific, School of Health Sciences, seeks a master’s degree or doctoral prepared registered nurse to join the ELMSN program and fill a non-tenure track position at the Assistant/Associate/Clinical Professor rank (depending on qualifications and academic experience). This full-time appointment focuses on teaching ELMSN content in both didactic and clinical settings, advising students, participation in simulation, curriculum development, interprofessional education, overseeing clinical adjuncts and student placements, and accreditation preparation. The University emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, and faculty are expected to participate in committee work and campus activities.
This is an appointment with a three-year contract and includes support for research, professional development, and scholarly activities.
What You'll Do
- Teach ELMSN program content in both didactic and clinical settings; advise students; participate in simulation; contribute to curriculum development and interprofessional education
- Oversee clinical adjuncts and placement of students in clinical agencies; manage required clinical documentation through tracking systems
- Assist with student and part-time faculty orientation; participate in accreditation preparation activities
- Attend program, curriculum, and other campus committee meetings; contact clinical agencies as needed; orient and evaluate part-time faculty and interview prospective students
- Demonstrate effective teaching, collaboration, research, and service to the University to support retention and promotion
- Relate with clinical agencies and ensure compliance with program requirements; contribute to ongoing program quality and accreditation efforts
What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications:
- MSN in Nursing or related field
- Current, active, and unencumbered California RN License
- Minimum of two years of nursing work experience in content specialty within the last five years
- Eligible for BRN approval as faculty
Nice to Have
- Terminal degree in Nursing (PhD or DNP, or EdD); ABD candidates encouraged to apply with the commitment to finish within two years
- 2+ years instructional experience in an academic setting
- Knowledge and skills in teaching adults/older adults, teaching methodologies, curriculum development, evaluations or willingness to acquire within the first year
- BRN approval as a content expert
- Experience using Canvas or other LMS
- Expertise in simulation or other innovative teaching modalities
- Computer literacy
- Ability to teach students in clinical settings with appropriate health qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching students from diverse backgrounds and to advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices in work
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Range: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year (USD)
- This is a three-year contract with support for research, professional development, and scholarly activities
- This is an in-person role; relocation within California is preferred, ideally within 25 miles of the Sacramento campus
