Job title: Adjunct Faculty in Anthropology
About the Role The Anthropology Program at the University of La Verne invites applications for part-time/temporary adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate courses in Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology, and Forensic Sciences. This pool-based position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work with a diverse group of traditional students. Please indicate areas of specialization in your cover letter.
What You'll Do
- Teach assigned undergraduate courses in cultural, biological, archaeological, linguistic anthropology, and forensic sciences, as well as applied topics, across the discipline.
- Provide quality instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines; maintain current knowledge in the subject matter.
- Create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning, encourages free discussion of ideas, and upholds professional conduct and ethics.
- Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate records; assignments may include day and evening offerings.
- Contribute to student success by supporting diverse learners and maintaining high standards of professionalism.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in Anthropology or allied fields within Anthropology.
- Demonstrated ability to teach at the college or university level; evidence of strong teaching preferred.
- Ph.D. or ABD toward a Ph.D. preferred.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching Anthropology and ability to teach multiple subfields including cultural, biological, archaeological, linguistic anthropology, and forensics.
Nice to Have
- Ph.D. or ABD toward Ph.D. (preferred)
- Prior college/university teaching experience with evidence of strong teaching.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $27.04 - $28.08 USD per hour for adjunct faculty depending on terminal degree.
