Account Manager, Industrial Lubricants
Clariant is seeking an Account Manager, Industrial Lubricants, to grow customer relationships and develop new business within our Care Chemicals business unit. The successful candidate will take ownership of an established portfolio, identify growth opportunities, and turn customer needs into commercial results. Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive engagement with procurement teams and key stakeholders.
- Develop and execute account plans that drive profitable growth, customer satisfaction, and retention across a portfolio representing approximately $12 million in sales.
- Identify and convert new business opportunities through active prospecting, project development, and disciplined CRM pipeline management.
- Manage pricing, quotations, contracts, and commercial negotiations while balancing customer needs with business and profitability objectives.
- Monitor customer demand, industry developments, and technical requirements to anticipate changing needs and recommend relevant solutions.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and timely opportunity updates to support demand planning and business decisions.
- Expand the company’s share of customer spend through product adoption, specifications, bids, tenders, and other commercial initiatives.
- Collaborate with technical, supply chain, customer service, and finance teams to resolve issues, address retention risks, and support accounts receivable and inventory management.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a science or business-related discipline.

At least five years of chemicals industry experience, ideally in account management, technical sales, or business development; industrial lubricants experience is preferred.

Strong commercial judgment, with the ability to identify opportunities, communicate product value, and manage customer negotiations.

Effective presentation, public speaking, and internal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to managing complex customer needs.

Demonstrated initiative, persistence, and accountability, with the ability to work independently, bring practical solutions, and follow through to deliver results.
