About the Role As an Estimator, you will prepare, review and present discipline estimates for project proposal activities, provide estimating guidance to projects, develop conceptual estimates and perform cost analysis. You’ll assist in developing discipline/service estimators, updating historical databases, and contributing to department procedures. What You'll Do
- Develop complete estimates for large, complex jobs
- Collaborate with permanent design and construction engineering disciplines, in-house and third-party teams
- Review plans and specifications to understand the project and develop the construction plan to serve as the estimate basis
- Review bid and contract documents and home office inputs
- Conduct site investigations prior to planning to identify unusual conditions
- Utilize engineering techniques to conduct investigations following company policy
- Perform design work beyond estimator scope and address major technical issues during bid prep
- Stay current with trends and developments in the industry
- Prepare special engineering studies or reports for certain bid items or conditions
- Prepare and manage subcontract and material supplier solicitations
- Consult with clients on challenges identified during bid prep, design, rates, and schedules What We're Looking For
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred
- Broad knowledge of project scheduling, cost control, specifications, and engineering drawings
- 5+ years of construction/engineering experience, specifically in heavy civil infrastructure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with InEight Estimate (HardDollar) highly desirable
- Experience with CADD and 3D Modeling software
- Strong mathematical and computer skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Effective oral and written communication
- Strong work ethic; able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies
- Knowledge of construction methods, costs and techniques
- Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements

- Base Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
