Job title: Zoning Officer
About the Role This full-time County Zoning Officer position enforces the County’s Zoning Ordinance and environmental codes under the supervision of the Planning Director. You will inspect properties for zoning compliance, respond to complaints, issue notices, research ordinances, and issue permits to help property owners navigate County regulations.
What You'll Do
- Inspect properties for zoning compliance
- Respond to complaints re zoning violations
- Issue zoning violation notices
- Research ordinances and regulations
- Meet with property owners, tenants, or complainants to advise and assist within County regulations
- Issue permits related to zoning, home occupations, and signs
- Read blueprints, site plans, and architectural designs
- Enforce ordinances and regulations with firmness, tact, and impartiality
What We're Looking For
- Associate's degree in planning or related field; bachelor's degree preferred
- Moderate experience in code enforcement
- Ability to read blueprints, site plans, and architectural designs
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to enforce ordinances and regulations with firmness, tact, and impartiality
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the requirement

Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary: $56,827.50 per year; some postings indicate up to around $57,000 per year
- Onsite, full-time position
- Post-offer drug screening and criminal background check required
