Yard Switcher

Responsible for assisting in the routing, shipping, and tracking of inbound and outbound orders. Informs carriers for freight pick-up and ensures shipments are routed appropriately.

Essential Job Functions

The following duties are normal for this position. The incumbent may perform some or all of these duties however; it is not an exclusive or all-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned.

• Moves trailer to designated dock for loading and unloading
• Inspects trailers for damage
• Connects and disconnects tractor from trailer
• During slower periods, act as a back-up for the Warehouse Coordinator and assist with warehouse functions such as forklift operator and data entry
• Perform other job related duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma/GED preferred
• Class A CDL
• Must be 22 years or older
• Must have 2+ years’ experience as a Yard Switcher

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of and ability to understand organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing and logistics processes
• Knowledge of strategies and tools for controlling and optimizing the factors that lie between the manufacturing of customer orders and delivery of finished products
• Ability to effectively manage the business relationship with the transporters of raw materials and finished products.
• Knowledge of issues and considerations for effectively managing local, regional and national distribution of inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods
• Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle and logistics supply chain
• Knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant and warehouse facility

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Primarily works in an production and/or warehouse setting with occasional time spent in a office setting
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent walking/standing required

The expected salary range for this position is $56,000 - $65,000 annually. Compensation for this role will vary based on factors such as geographic location, experience, and qualifications. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan and for a full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; basic term life, AD&D, Short- and Long-term disability; EAP; 401(k) retirement savings plan; PTO and paid holidays.
