About the Role Arlington County is seeking WSS Service Technicians to join crews focused on water, sewer, and street maintenance and improvements. This role contributes to maintaining essential public infrastructure and providing strong customer service in all weather conditions. What You'll Do
- Perform maintenance, repair, and installations across water, sewer, and street infrastructure as part of a crew.
- Operate vehicles and use hand/power tools; log work orders and document activities in the CMMS or other systems.
- Inspect valves, hydrants, meters, pipes, catch basins, manholes, and related structures; assist with sewer video inspection and CCTV operations.
- Respond to emergencies including call-backs and overtime as needed (snow removal, mains breaks, etc.).
- Collaborate with internal/external customers to provide excellent service. What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or equivalent; ability to read maps and use hand/power tools.
- WSS Service Technician Trainee: ability to learn non-commercial vehicle operation and obtain VDOT Basic Work Zone Certification within 1 year of hire.
- WSS Service Technician: High School Diploma/equivalent; 1 year of public works/construction or related experience; ability to operate both commercial (CDL required) and non-commercial vehicles, read maps.
- WSS Senior Service Technician: High School Diploma/equivalent; 2 years of related experience; ability to operate commercial (CDL required) and non-commercial vehicles, read maps. Nice to Have
- Experience with construction, utility operations, or in water/sewer/streets operations.
- Reading blueprints/plans and system maps.
- CMMS experience; work zone safety certification; confined space or excavation certification; CDL Class B or A. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: USD 48,000 – 90,000 per year.
