Workshop Supervisory Services II

MAIN FUNCTIONS

• Supervise daily workshop operations and assigned maintenance activities.
• Coordinate technicians, artisans, mechanics, fabricators, welders, and support personnel.
• Plan and allocate workshop jobs according to priorities, manpower, materials, and equipment availability.
• Supervise repair, overhaul, fabrication, assembly, dismantling, and testing of mechanical equipment and components.
• Ensure work is performed according to approved procedures, drawings, specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Inspect completed work and ensure required quality standards are achieved.
• Coordinate workshop activities with maintenance, engineering, operations, procurement, QA/QC, and HSE teams.
• Monitor job progress, identify delays, and resolve workshop constraints.
• Maintain workshop equipment, tools, machines, and facilities in safe operating condition.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE requirements and workshop safety procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review work orders, maintenance requests, job cards, drawings, and technical instructions.

• Allocate work to appropriate technicians and monitor task execution.

• Supervise machining, welding, fitting, fabrication, equipment overhaul, repair, and assembly activities as applicable.

• Inspect components before and after repair to determine their condition and serviceability.

• Ensure proper use of workshop machines such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, grinders, hydraulic presses, welding machines, and lifting equipment.

• Verify dimensions, tolerances, alignment, and other technical requirements.

• Coordinate testing and inspection of repaired or fabricated equipment before release to service.

• Monitor availability and proper use of spare parts, materials, tools, and consumables.

• Maintain workshop records, job reports, equipment history, and maintenance documentation.

• Track outstanding jobs, repair backlogs, and equipment awaiting parts or technical decisions.

• Supervise contractors and specialist service providers working in the workshop.

• Ensure proper housekeeping, waste disposal, and storage of tools and materials.

• Conduct toolbox talks and enforce PTW, JSA/JHA, LOTO, lifting, hot-work, and machine-safety requirements.

• Investigate equipment failures and recurring workshop problems and recommend corrective actions.

• Support shutdown, turnaround, commissioning, and major maintenance activities.

• Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior workshop personnel.

• QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• HND, OND, technical certificate, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Fabrication, or a related discipline.

• Relevant experience in workshop supervision, mechanical maintenance, fabrication, equipment repair, or industrial operations.

• Experience in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, marine, manufacturing, or other heavy-industry environments is advantageous.

• Good knowledge of mechanical equipment, workshop machinery, fabrication, fitting, machining, and repair techniques.

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.

• Experience supervising technicians, artisans, contractors, and workshop support personnel.

• Strong understanding of workshop HSE requirements and safe use of machinery and tools.

• Good planning, leadership, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work effectively in workshop, plant, fabrication yard, maintenance, shutdown, and turnaround environments.
