Job title: Workshop Manager
About the Role The purpose of this position is to ensure best management practices are followed across workshop operations, procedures and actions. The role promotes a customer-service oriented business and ensures the workshop is operated profitably in line with the company strategic vision and targets.
What You'll Do
- Manage the Workshop in line with budget and company strategic objectives (work in progress, work scheduling, quality of work, quote accuracy, profitability of individual workshops and department, profitability of maintenance contracts, etc).
- Ensure quality customer service through optimum response times and professional service; identify and address training needs of technicians, administrative and supervisory staff.
- Manage Workshop Personnel including performance monitoring, payroll information, weekly/monthly departmental meetings, managing leave and absenteeism, and ensuring effective internal communication.
- Provide regular feedback to department staff and keep the team informed about company news, market trends and relevant information.
- Drive Customer Care through regular visits, dispute resolution, promotion of services and relationship building with our customer base.
- Prepare and present weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reports.
- Ensure the Workshop team follows administrative procedures correctly.
- Uphold health and safety requirements and ensure compliance with relevant regulations; ensure premises meet standards.
- Ensure workshops meet ASEC requirements.
- Drive customer service excellence and grow the Workshop in line with company requirements.
- Develop and implement operational innovations to improve performance.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in workshop management or equivalent operations leadership.
- Strong leadership, people management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, scheduling, quality control and profitability.
- Customer service excellence and relationship management experience.
- Ability to assess training needs and address skill gaps across technicians, admin and supervisory staff.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with reporting, data analysis and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Ability to drive process improvements and operational innovation.
- Familiarity with maintenance contracts, quotes, and service profitability is a plus.
- Results-oriented with a focus on delivering targets.
