Job title: Workforce Instructor (Part-Time)
About the Role Lamar Institute of Technology seeks part-time workforce instructors to teach courses in their field of expertise, delivering both academic and workforce skills to help students attain entry-level employment in target occupations. Programs are developed in collaboration with business and industry to meet timely workforce needs.
What You'll Do
- Teach assigned classes in keeping with approved syllabi, outlines and instructional materials through classroom and lab instruction.
- Provide counsel/guidance to students when there is a need.
- Demonstrate exemplary technique in the operation of equipment relevant to training.
- Convey industry-accepted standards regarding operational techniques of equipment relevant to one’s field.
- Work with students from different backgrounds and cultures, as well as different knowledge and skill levels.
- Work flexible hours, including possible weekend and night-time training.
- Maintain good working relationships with staff, faculty, and administration at Lamar Institute of Technology.
- Come to work in a timely and predictable manner.
- Tolerate stressful conditions as they arise.
- Follow institute policies and procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to needs of the Institute.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Education: Dependent on course being taught.
- Minimum Experience: Significant work experience in field of expertise.
- Certifications/ Licenses: Dependent on area of expertise.
- Key Competencies: Knowledge of industry-accepted training techniques; Self-starter with the ability to help others understand and learn; Knowledge of and compliance with the most current rules and regulations of one’s field.
Nice to Have
- Some teaching/training experience preferred.
