About the Role Join Kier Group's Winter Service team as a Winter Maintenance Driver on a fixed-term contract. You’ll drive a gritter on the public highway across Northamptonshire contracts, keeping roads safe during winter. The role is on-call with flexible days/nights and weather-dependent shifts, fixed-term to April 2025 with potential involvement in future winter seasons. Full training is provided toward a winter service NVQ qualification. What You'll Do
- Drive and operate a gritter on public highways within Northamptonshire contracts on an on-call basis.
- Respond to winter weather conditions and call-outs to keep roads safe and passable.
- Follow Kier's winter service procedures, health and safety requirements, and participate in training toward NVQ qualification.
- Work flexible days/nights, with standby arrangements and weekend shifts as required. What We're Looking For
- Willingness to work on a fixed-term, zero-hour contract and be available for on-call work across Northamptonshire.
- Ability to operate a gritter and perform driving duties on public highways during winter conditions.
- Flexibility to work call-outs and weekends; weather-dependent scheduling.
- Enthusiasm for training and achieving a winter service NVQ qualification.

- Salary: £22.50 per hour, with weekly pay. Standby pay of £17.55 per shift (Mon–Fri) and £35.09 per shift (Sat/Sun).
- On-call role with flexible days/nights and weekend rates.
- Full training provided toward a winter service NVQ qualification.
