Welder

About the Role The Welder will perform welds on components for large, custom fire apparatus in a manufacturing environment. Responsible for assembling parts to exacting specifications and maintaining safety and quality standards. What You'll Do

• Work from shop orders, specifications, prints and instructions.
• Review material and product requirements; ensure parts are cut and prepared as prescribed.
• Set parts in assembly fixture, position, layout and clamp in place in specified orientation to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Select welding parameters per specified weld procedures.
• Work in teams and follow work instructions to minimize heat distortion.
• Fit, tack, and weld joints in specified locations with designated welding procedure specifications to ensure weld size, continuity, fill, distortion and cosmetic requirements.
• Manipulate large, heavy units as required to accommodate efficient welding operations.
• Make visual and dimensional checks of work and document as required.
• Move work to succeeding work area to maintain workflow.
• Notify supervisor of unusual equipment or operating problems.
• Support training and orientation programs for new and transferring employees and report results.
• The welder's weld quality is inspected by Ferrara Quality Department, co-workers or an outside third party; participate in quality audits and corrective actions as required. What We're Looking For
• Experience performing welds per welding procedures and reading shop orders, specifications and prints.
• Ability to set up and position parts using fixtures; maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Familiarity with visual and dimensional inspection and documentation.
• Strong safety focus; use of PPE; ability to use lifting equipment and operate safely in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in a team and follow lean, 5S, and continuous improvement practices. Nice to Have
• Bronze Lean Certification or active Lean/Kaizen participation.
• Prior experience in heavy manufacturing or fire apparatus construction. Compensation & Benefits
