About this role

About the Role We are building a pool of qualified Welder candidates for future openings. This role involves welding components and units to specified weld size and type, ensuring proper strength and a neat appearance. What You'll Do

  • Work from orders, blueprints, route and method sheets, and direction from supervisor.
  • Welds together metal components as specified by layout, diagram, work order, welding procedures, and oral instructions, using electric wire feed welding equipment.
  • Obtain welding fixtures and positioners from storage, identified by part or tool number as indicated on route sheet.
  • Weld beads of prescribed length, radius, and size to fasten elements securely and meet specifications and leak-proof seams when required.
  • Weld elements to make regular and irregular, eccentric, and symmetrical weldments of simple or designed types.
  • Vary amperage and voltage to obtain quality weld at maximum linear speed consistent with good practice.
  • Obtain accurate angular, dimensional, and spatial relationships, within specified limits, by proper fixturing, positioning, clamping, and checking of parts in fixture.
  • Strike arc to heat and deposit metal from electrode to work piece and join edges.
  • Manually guide the welding gun along the weld line, maintaining arc length and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color, sound, and puddle.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.
  • May cut metal plate or structural shapes using oxy/acetylene torch.
  • Clean or degrease weld joint or work piece using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath. What We're Looking For
  • Experience in welding using electric wire feed equipment and ability to read layouts, diagrams, route sheets, and welding procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and use fixtures and positioners, and to set up joints according to route sheets.
  • Skill in producing welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions with attention to strength, appearance, and leak-proof seams.
  • Ability to cut with oxy/acetylene torch and to clean/degrea se weld joints as required.
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing setting and following safety procedures.
